Music therapy effectiveness for MND / ALS will be researched

The world’s first international study to evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy to help patients with motor neutron disease (MND) / amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) will be conducted by Alisa Apreleva, certified music therapist. This was announced by the medical director of the Foundation “Live Now” Lev Brylev, MD, in Moscow, Russia, on September 10 2017.

Earlier, in the State Library of Arts named after Bogolubov, a presentation of book “Musician as a volunteer: therapeutic use of music in medical and social institutions” was held. The publication was presented by the author Alice Apreleva, expert advisor at “Live Now” Foundation and founder of the project MuzTerapevt.Ru, and Lev Brylev, who contributed the foreword to the book.

The book is based on the professional experience of Alisa Apreleva and tells about how important this type of support is, including for people with ALS. “The feeling that does not leave since the Third MuzTerapevt.Ru Conference in May 2017, is that the core of the profession (“music therapist “- ed.) has finally formed in Russia. Despite the differences in experience, approaches, views, there is already a necessary commonality, and we only have to continue working together on the set of standards and recognition of the profession in Russia, on interdisciplinary cooperation, ethics, research, and the inclusion of unique Russian experience in the global context,” – shared she.

Simultaneously with the presentation of the book, Alisa Apreleva conducted a continued education “Music therapy in neurological practice”. The course was attended by 17 specialists, who were awarded with state-recognized certificates through “Training Center for Continuing Medical and Pharmaceutical Education”, organized the course of ANO “School for Patronage Care.”
